Breville BOV800XL – The Ultimate Toaster Oven Of All Time
If you're looking for the absolute top of the line convection toaster oven, bar none, the Breville BOV800XL is the one you want to look at. And what's amazing is that, as good as it is, it isn't even the most expensive unit out there. It is, however, definitely the best. Take it from those who have bought one and have been using it regularly. Most are quick to admit the Breville toaster oven is nothing short of amazing with its vast array of capabilities, features and functions.

Truth be told, you can buy convection/toaster ovens all day long for less than a hundred dollars, with many model choices right around the fifty-dollar mark. Some of the brands currently available in this price range include a few very well known names such as:

• DeLonghi
• West Bend
• Waring
• Sanyo

Several of these brands offer multiple models with additional bells and whistles (and higher costs) but absolutely nothing comes even close to the BOV800XL as far as quality, features and customer satisfaction. While it lists at a fairly hefty $299.99, it's easily found at discounts of 20% and, even if you had to pay MSRP you would still be getting your money's worth with this unit! Compare the Breville BOV800XL with the Waring Pro CO 1500B, which lists for more than double at $725, and it's still no contest. A quick read through some of the many customer reviews tells why.

In essence, the Breville does it all. It's called 'The Smart Oven' because in incorporates something called Element IQ technology which gives total control over heat dispersion. The unit has five quartz heating elements and these are independently operated by the Element IQ to cook things exactly the way you want. There are nine pre-set cooking functions, each with its own pre-programmed cooking time and temperature.

As an example of how this works, consider broiling a piece of beef using the broil setting. In this case, only the top three elements will operate. In toast mode, however, upper and lower elements are both activated and the full 1800 watts of available heating power cooks your bread crispy on the outside but leaves it soft on the inside. Bagel mode is similar to the toast function except that the Element IQ shuts off the two lower elements part way through the cycle so the outside of the bagel doesn't get too crispy but the inside cooks all the way through.

Rather than the 5 quartz heating elements having a fixed wattage, the Element IQ works similarly to a dimmer switch on a light bulb, turning the power up or down as need be. These pre-set modes can also be altered to suit your individual preferences and the BOV800XL Smart Oven will even remember your settings for the next time, too. When choosing 'bake', the two bottom and two of the three top elements provide 1500 watts of power and the convection fan switches on to ensure even cooking throughout the entire operation.

The Breville toaster oven is beautifully designed, both attractively stylish and made easy to operate. Constructed of reinforced stainless steel, it is large enough to accommodate a 13" pizza and its non-stick interior is easy to keep clean. The control panel is intuitive and the blue back-lit screen (LCD) makes it easy to tell what functions, temperatures and adjustments have been initiated.

Not only does this unit heat up much quicker than an ordinary full-sized kitchen oven but it only uses about one-half the energy and also doesn't disperse anywhere near as much heat throughout your kitchen area. It comes complete with a 13-inch pizza pan, a 12" square enamel baking pan, a removable crumb tray and a 12" square broiling rack.

There are three positions in which the wire rack can be placed and the Breville BOV800XL even tells you, right on the door, which one to choose for each specific cooking task. This oven takes all the guess work out of cooking! It even has a magnetic, auto-eject function when the wire rack is in the middle position, making it even easier to remove.
